About the Artist

Ekun Gallery

From the snow-capped peaks of Mauna Kea to the depths of the Pacific Ocean, every photograph is an invitation to pause, see, and feel. Alexis believes art has the power to transform not just spaces, but the people who inhabit them.

For over two decades, Alexis has dedicated his life to capturing the ineffable — those fleeting moments when light transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. His work is a meditation on presence, bearing witness to the extraordinary beauty that exists in the ordinary — an invitation to slow down and truly see.

Born in Santiago, Chile, with deep Mapuche roots, Alexis now lives between the islands of Hawaiʻi and his homeland. His journey began at age fifteen with a camera in hand, roaming Santiago's streets to capture high-powered cars and Porsches. That early passion quickly opened unexpected doors — Alexis was hired by Ducati Chile before finishing high school. His natural talent for mechanics and engineering soon led to aeronautical work while still in his teens. Before long, Porsche recruited him as a lead mechanic on their Formula One team, where he spent years immersed in the high-stakes world of elite motorsport.

That early obsession with light and movement never left him. What began on Santiago's streets photographing supercars evolved into a lifelong meditation on how light shapes our perception of the world. Alexis remains captivated by the way light shapes our perception of the world. For Alexis, photography is visual poetry — distilling complex emotions and lived experience into one quiet, resonant frame. Each image is the result of hours, sometimes days, of patient waiting for that perfect alignment of light, moment, and feeling.

Artist Statement

“I photograph not to document, but to reveal. Each image is an attempt to show what was always there, hiding in plain sight, waiting for someone to pay attention.”
